Tallest Skyscraper in the World Almost Completed
The Burj Dubai tower, the tallest skyscraper in the world, is about to be completed. To celebrate it, David Hobcote has taken a series of amazing high resolution pictures from the air which give an exact impression of the breathtaking, massive scale of this building. Inside, it looks like a set from Blade Runner or the interior of the Death Star

25 Most Colorful Lakes
Awesome photos!!
1. The blue hues captured in this stunning photograph of Peyto Lake in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, show just how awesome the natural world can be.
2. Perito Moreno in Patagonia, Argentina gets its vibrant turquoise color from light reflecting off suspended glacier ice melt particles.
3. Five Flower Lake in Jiuzhaigon National Park, China, is known for its crystal turquoise waters. The floor of the lake is littered with ancient fallen trees from the surrounding forests.
4. Another view of Peyto Lake in Banff, demonstrating how light reflection can drastically alter the colour of water.
5. This volcanic lake in Flores had been turned bright turquoise from algae and bacteria living in the water.
6. Bacteria may have turned this lake a blue/brown color but we can’t help thinking of steaming hot chocolate when we look at the picture. Mmmm.

The Olympic Opening Ceremony in a Minute

While Zhang Yimou's display was certainly memorable—regardless of the CGI fireworks—even the Chinese couldn't figure out a way to computer generate a procession of obscure African/Eastern European countries that lasted less than three hours. Here's how the air, ground, data, landline, cellphone, and sea ship traffic looks from space in Great Britain, one of the busiest countries on Earth. The BBC's Britain from Above documentary took satellite and air images and mixed it with 3D GPS data to create these breathtaking high resolution pictures and videos:

Styrofoam Homes Are Typhoon-Resistant, Refillable with People or Coffee
Styrofoam homes may sound like a recipient for disaster, but Japan Dome House Co., Ltd. thinks they're the future. A future in which all of us will be hobbits or smurfs. Made with 7-inch-thick 100% expanded polystyrene foam modules, the company says that they don't have the maintenance problems of wood or metal structures, and they are "highly resistant" to earthquakes, fires, and typhoons. Still, the 480 domes at Aso Farm Land resort village in Kyushu look like a suburban community on Mos Eisley's outskirts or a world from Myst.
Inside, however, the homes look huge.
Each module is only 175 pounds, and they can be carried and assembled by a couple of people in a matter of hours. I don't know how that is compatible with "typhoon resistant," but since it has been approved by Japan's safety-obsessed government, we would have to believe it's true.
